| Membership Benefits: |
| LBP is a highly effective organization because
professionals and students work together towards mutual benefit. We
strive to make a difference in our community and together, we're
proud to offer a wide range of benefits to you as an LBP
professional or student member.
Employment
Opportunities:
- As a member, you will receive invitations to attend the annual
"San Jose Latins Connect" and "San Francisco Meet the Firms"
corporate recruiting events. Both events provide you with the
opportunity to network with hiring managers from over 30 of the Bay
Area's leading Fortune 500 and largest regional employers. These
events have enabled our members to secure full-time careers with
prestigious employers.
Career Referral Services:
- As a member, you will have the opportunity to work one-on-one
with an LBP board member to identify LBP sponsors with employment
opportunities that suit your career interests. Our long-standing
relationship with corporate sponsors and well-established community
organizations provides us with a wide variety of resources to suit
the specific career interests of each member.
Networking:
- Our San Francisco and San Jose/Silicon Valley chapters host
quarterly networking events for professionals as well as
participate with student chapter and community organized events. As
a member, you'll have the opportunity to meet and build incredible
relationships. Members meet partners from the Big 4 accounting
firms, as well as Controllers, Chief Financial Officers and
Managers from the Bay Area's most prestigious companies. Students
benefit from these events by building relationships with successful
Latino professionals within corporate America. Additionally, LBP
sponsors inter-chapter events that enable students from Bay Area
colleges and universities to strengthen their chapters by
establishing relationships and exchanging best practices.
Leadership Development:
- The LBP leadership structure allows members to serve as a board
member, committee chair or committee member. These positions offer
members a unique opportunity to build upon their leadership skills
by working with a diverse group of established professionals and
student leaders. Past volunteers state our leadership development
training in the areas of networking, fundraising and program
management helped them succeed in their careers.
Mentorship Program:
- As members, students and professionals participate in our LBP
"Catapult to Excellence" Mentorship Program. Established in 2003,
the program operates throughout the academic year by pairing a
student member with an established professional member based on
mutually beneficial interests. This program is credited with many
amazing results. Professionals report that it has provided them
with an incredibly rewarding way to give back to the community.
Students report that the program has helped them make the right
academic decisions, often resulting in an interview or career
opportunity.
LBP/CHispPA Scholarship Program:
- Each year, LBP awards scholarships to graduating high school
seniors and college students attending an accredited college or
university in Northern California. Thanks to the generosity of our
sponsors, we have been able to double the number of scholarships
awarded each year with the Applied Materials "Dollar-for-Dollar"
Match Program. These scholarships provide many first-generation
college students with much needed financial assistance as they
pursue an accounting or finance career. The application process
occurs between August 1, 2007 and January 15, 2008. All recipients
are notified in February and invited to the LBP Annual Scholarship
Awards Program in March. Check the home page for links to the
program.
CPA Review Scholarships:
- Each year, LBP awards one full scholarship and one 50% off
discount certification for the Roger CPA Review courses. Recognized
as one of the Bay Area's top CPA review courses, the Roger CPA
Review courses ensure that LBP students study in the most
productive learning environment for their individual needs. LBP
believes that review courses are an essential element of any future
accountant's master career plan towards obtaining and practicing as
a CPA. This program is offered as an exclusive benefit for our LBP
student members. Refer to the scholarships link page for more
information and an application.
LBP "Propel to Excellence" Summer Internship
Program:
- Each year, LBP invites college students who possess outstanding
potential to participate in the LBP "Propel to Excellence" Summer
Internship Program. Interns are placed at various Bay Area
companies seeking high-caliber accounting and finance students. LBP
paid student members of record will receive information about
applying to the program on January 1 of each year. If you joined on
or after January 1, send an email to sj_president@LBPBayArea.org

Valley chapter at sj_president@LBPBayArea.org
or the San Francisco chapter at sf_president@LBPBayArea.org
